We started the first collection in black, not by chance. We thought it was important to start our journey with all black garments because even though true black absorbs all light, by crystallising our attire on this colour, we want to emphasise the fact that when you truly shine not even the truest of blacks can dull your illumination!
Mirco Olivieri &
Elliott Sumpton
Mirco Olivieri is born on November 7, 1993, in Rome, to Italian parents who flee to the eternal city after their wedding.
The young Mirco begins his university career at the Italian Fashion Institute, completing his studies in just three years.
Soon afterwards, he buys a one-way ticket to Australia to follow his dreams. After travelling all around the country and meeting so many different cultures and lifestyles, he falls in love with the city of Sydney, where he decides to settle down permanently.
This is when he goes back to his passions such as practising with the sawing machine and drawing fashion sketches.
He has been working as a manager in the most high-end fashion boutiques for menswear and womenswear. Starting from 2015, he makes some personalised garments for friends that soon gather interest from people around him. Mirco also works as a dancer for the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras events and discovers his strong bond to that world. So colourful and joyful, being still nowadays so attached.
It’s here where Mirco meets his partner Elliott Sumpton, a professional dancer and choreographer also extremely involved in the Sydney Mardi Gras events. They bond over their similar history in the competitive ballroom world, and he could have never imagined the amazing things to follow. Indeed, with Elliott’s love, massive encouragement, and constant support, they co-create the amazing fashion line now known as Luster Labs.
